Temples of Java / Ariswara ; photography by Jhonny S. ; English translation by Annette K. Hadimadja
The temples spread across Java are the remains of the glory of HIndu and Buddha in the past.
Central Java is the place of most of the temples, including two of the most famous, Borobudur and Prambanan.
East Java still has several temples, whilst West Java has only one remaining temple: Cangkuang.
How these temples can still exist, could be partly due ti the attitude of the local people. Inspite of their belief in other religious that reached them after Hindu and Buddha, they still respect their ancestor's religion, and thus have not destroyed the remains of the temples.
This book will give you a brief introduction to the temples in Java.
These temples, the work of the Indonesian people in the past, should be preserved and cared for.
