Benefit-Cost Analyses of Social Regulation : Case Studies from the Council on Wage and Price Stability
assesses the benefit and costs of various regulatory programs dealing with safety, health, and the environment. The case studies collected here were inspired by efforts of the Ford Administration's Council on Wage and Price Stability to determine whether proposed regulations are worthwhile. the essays share the view that benefit-cost analysis can be applied to a broad variety of social regulatory programs and may indeed be an indispensable tool for policy makers if available resources are to be allocated to maximum advantage.
